Thursday the 14th till Friday the 15th of May
(Sydney to Bangkok to London to Copenhagen)

The next day it was time for our pamper session at the hair salon and a last bit of shopping. It was nice to be back in a big city, but soon we headed to the Airport for the long trip home. On the plane from Sydney to London Nanna sat on the row in front of me but we didn't bother to ask someone to switch, as we just spent the trip sleeping and watching movies. Finally we were in London, where we had 7 hours before the plane to Copenhagen left, so we had decided to have a quick trip to lovely London city. Top shop, Starbucks and Waterstone's was on the list of must go too. The rest of the time we spent wandering Heathrow Terminal 5 or using the internet points. At some point we noticed that Nik & Jay were on our flight. (They are a danish pop duo) We joked a bit about it as it just seemed like a weird end to our trip. Finally we got on the plane and suddenly we were back in Copenhagen, where friends and family were waiting to greet us.
I got the sad news that my grandmother had died while I was away, but they had decided not to tell me till I was home, which I'm happy for since I couldn't have done anything while on the other side of the planet.

This was the end of the trip of my life... so far. Australia is a place I'll long to come back to and see more of. The people I met on the trip will always remind me of that lovely trip. So far I've only seen Mona and Sofie since the trip, but hope to have a chance to see some of the others at some point. It'll be an excuse to travel a bit. =)

Tuesday the 12th till Wednesday the 13th of May
(Yulara to Alice Springs to Sydney)

Then it was all to soon the last day of the trip. So it was time to clean all the equipment before heading back to Alice Springs. As we got to Alice Springs we all went to our different hostels and Lloyd, Sabrina and Geoff went to get the camper-van they had booked for their ride back to Sydney. Nanna and I had booked the nice gateway hotel, which was luxury after the many days of camping, we had our own bathroom!. After enjoying a nice shower and relaxing, it was time to head to Bojangels to meet everyone for one last time. We all had a lovely evening. Luke got a thank you letter for the great trip and a nice tip from everyone and a round of best and worst part of the trip. As we enjoyed each others company for the last time it was soon time for the camper-van to start heading south. As me and Lloyd said goodbye the song “hit the road jack” came on and I went in with the others to dance to it. (Nanna had told me that Jess had asked her if I was going to cry when saying goodbye to Lloyd, which had almost made her laugh but then again Jess is just much more romantic than me (and Nanna) of course goodbyes aren't fun but I had a great time the rest of the night anyway and Jess doesn't know as well). The night progressed and we all danced a lot, Nanna and Luke had a nice dance to an ABBA song. When Bojangles closed we didn't wanted the night to end so we all went to the casino, which was the only place still open. It was nice but security there decided Luke was much to drunk and asked him to leave. So we all said goodbye to him, even if we thought it was all to soon and he wasn't more drunk than most of the others. Not long after we all decided to head home. We would see Jess, Mona, Sofie and Olly the next day as we were on the same flight to Sydney, they got into a cab and headed to their hotel. Me, Nanna and Rob on the other hand didn't get a cab and ended up walking home, trying to find our way. We took a “short-cut” by crossing the dried up river. Finally we found our hotel and said goodbye to Rob who lived a short walk away from there.
The next day we spent most of your time in the airport as we didn't feel like waiting at the hotel. At some point we meet up with the other 4 and enjoyed our last day together. Finally at Sydney Airport it was time to say goodbye to the last ones. It had now sunk in that it would be a long time if ever before we would meet most of the people, we had been together with so much for the last month, again. The plan was to sleep at Delia's place for the night, but we hadn't been able to get in tusch with her and she wasn't as home when we arrived, so after waiting for awhile we took a cap back to Sydney city and found a hostel. The hostel was slightly creepy but it was just a place to sleep. True to Katja and Nanna tradition we had cup noodles for dinner and watched some TV.

Saturday the 9th till Monday the 11th of May.
(Alice Springs to King Canyon to Yulara/Ayers Rock Resort)

The next day we had a 480 km drive to King Canyon. But on the way some of us went camel-riding and everybody saw Dinko the singing Dingo, who is just a dog that howls to the sounds of a piano, whether or not you'll call it music is totally up to you. King Canyon has a great hike, but it starts with a very steep carved set of stairs that really tires you out. But it is beautiful and definitely worth a hike if you like that sort of thing, and you should like that sort of thing, even if we got slightly nonchalant about these things as we saw so many at such a sort time. (Yes 30 days is a very short time to explore Auzz in). The sunset wasn't as Luke would have wanted it because of clouds but still beautiful. At the camp-ground we had the pleasure of a big school camp right next to us, but they were actually very quiet very early. We started yet another round of the murder game that day, and I killed Nanna. Me an Lloyd had our own tent yet again, of course getting a few jibes from the others. It was very clear that Jess and Sabrina and a few others had a very different idea of how much a holiday-fling as this was meant. Also how some of them kept making sure Nanna wasn't feeling left out as I now spent sometime with Lloyd. But as me and Nanna talked about we both knew that if Nanna felt I neglected her she could just say so and we were allowed to have fun without the other one there.
The next day we had a drive of only 330km to Ayers Rock Resort. That day Nanna, Sofie, Jess and I went Quad biking and lets just say I apparently enjoy crashing into trees. But it was fun and the few scrapes I got were nothing. After hanging around the camp-ground and did a bit of groceries for awhile as Nanna, Jess, Sofie and Mona (I think) went on a Harley ride around Uluru (Ayers Rock). Then we all went to see the sunset at Uluru, you see the amazing different colours the rock shifts between in the sun. We had nachos and champagne and other goodies while watching it. After that yet another nice meal made at the camp-ground. Then we went somewhat early to bed as we had to get up early the next day so we could see the sunrise at Uluru also. After seeing the sunrise we went off to do the Uluru base walk. Sadly my memories of Uluru from that day is shadowed by the fact that I had gotten myself a bladder infection, and there are very few toilets. So yet I actually went myself once, with only Lloyd around (blush). Luckily he had a pair of pants in the car I could borrow. And at the culture centre we went to I talked to Luke who drove me to a doctor so I could get some antibiotics. The male-nurse who saw me was very nice and the antibiotics were free (I didn't pay at the least). Luke had left me there to pick the others up so they could fix lunch and get ready for a hike to kata tjuta (spelling?). I decided to skip that as I preferred being close to a toilet as I had to pee every 20 minutes or something.
...My advice for everyone if you feel like you could be getting a bladder infection, don't wait till you've wet yourself, go to the doctor before. I had a few days before talked to Nanna and said I felt like I was getting one and hoped it would stay away until we were home in Denmark...

Thursday the 7th till Friday the 8th of May.
(Devils Marbles to Maedonnell Ranges to Alice Springs)

Waking up on Devils Marbles is a fun experience as it is normal for people to come up there and see the sunrise. People were a bit surprised to find 11 people sleeping up there. After breakfast we started the 530 km drive of the day. First we went to Australia's UFO capital for at short while. During the day the murder game continued and at some point Nanna killed me with a flower. We arrived at Alice Springs and got the chance to wander the city. As we were supposed to leave we accidentally punctured a tire and was delayed for a time. We arrived at Maedonnell Ranges and made dinner under the shelter. Because it was late and the ground was very rocky we decided to sleep under the shelter also, since it had a even ground. As it was dark and everything we couldn't find the showers, which we of course found the next day. But as only Nanna and Jess decided not to do the long gorge hike, they were the only ones with time enough to use the showers that day. The hike was yet another beautiful sight. Then it was time to head back to Alice Springs where we camped for the night. We went to Bojangles Saloon and Dining Room, to eat that night and party a bit. I had some of the best Lamb Shanks I've ever had. The food there is great, just don't go for the pasta, it just doesn't measure up to the rest of it. If you ever come to Bojangles then don't worry about being confused when going to the bathroom, it is just weird but entertaining to see slightly drunk people get confused as to what is wrong the taps and other stuff. Me and Lloyd left earlier than the rest, to enjoy ourselves in our tent (we had put up an extra tent). Which we did, when we found it, which took awhile as we got slightly lost on the camp-ground.

Tuesday the 5th till Wednesday the 6th of May.
(Manyallaluk to Mataranka to Devils Marbles)

At Manyallaluk we had a cultural day, where John, our aboriginal guide, told us about the aboriginal way of life, we tried making baskets, painting, throwing spears and making fire. It was a very educational day. And it is not very easy to start a fire with two sticks. We only had a 120km drive to Mataranka, where we sat up camp and then went to the Thermal pool and relaxed in that lovely 30 degrees Celsius waterhole. By the way making rice for 11 people in a too small pot is not easy. As people went to bed me and Lloyd ended up being the last ones up. The conversation at some point came to be about skinny-dipping. We came to a conclusion that skinny-dipping should be done in a 30 degrees Celsius waterhole. Which meant we of course had to go do that. So in moonlight we swam in the pool. And yes more than swimming happened. As Lloyd told me he kinda liked me, I admitted that he was the guy I liked. I ended up sleeping in Lloyd and Olly's tent, so the next morning Nanna was so friendly as to try and find the right tent to tell me I had to get up if I wanted to have a shower before we would be moving on towards Devils Marbles.
We had a 680km drive that day. When we stopped for an alcohol stop, after shopping, all the girls ended up standing outside the shop waiting for the boys. And then the question of whether there was something between me and Lloyd could no longer be avoided, not that we had been very subtle as we had been sitting next to each other in the bus, holding hands and I had been sleeping with my head on his lap or in other ways together-ish. So then it was out and everyone was like “I've always know you two would get together”. Devils Marbles are beautiful and fun to explore. We had fun taking different pictures of everyone. At sundown we brought a couple of beers up on one of the marbles and watched the sun go down. At dinner that night we started the murder game. It was fun, because everyone was slightly suspicious if someone asked you to help with something. (The rules are simple everyone draws a piece of paper with a name, of the person you had to “kill”, a piece with a thing, which would be the murder weapon, and a piece with a “place”, which would be the place of the crime. All the pieces are made by everyone writing a thing, a place and your own name. When you “kill” someone you get their pieces of paper and have your next target that way.) After dinner we packed the food away, so the dingoes wouldn't eat any of it. Then we got all our sleeping gear and went back up on the marble to sleep under the stars. Nanna, Sofie, Jess, Sabrina started a pillow-fight, Mona was also a part of some of it. It was an amazing experience, through a bit cold because of the wind and the further into the country one gets, it gets colder at night.

(Kakadu Lodge to Mordugal C.G. to Manyallaluk)

Then it was Sabrina's birthday, which I think started with a dip in the pool at 6 am, I was still asleep. The drive that day was very short since we just moved to another part of the Kakadu National Park. We saw more stone paintings that day and Luke told stories about the Aboriginals. At lunch we sat up camp, and fooled Sabrina into trying to do it blindfolded. She thought every pair had one blindfolded person and it was a contest to do it first, but she was the only one with at blindfold on. Sabrina's birthday meant yet another party on a camp-site once again with complaints about us making noise. The place had a lot of mosquitoes. We had filled Sabrina and Jess' tent with balloons, which we of course blew, making much noise. Shortly after we were about 7 people in their tent playing truth or dare. There was semi-nudity, kissing and questions about who you liked (I skipped answering that one by going out of the tent) in the game. In the end me, Mona and Lloyd was sitting outside a tent (possibly mine) and talked. Apparently not as quietly as we thought, and drunk Mona and drunk Katja aren't very good at whispering. But as Geoff said the next day it was okay he was just shortly possessed by the old grumpy man. :)
Not enough hours after it was time to get up and go on the Yellow water cruise at sunrise. The cruise was beautiful, but since we hadn't had enough sleep we kind of fell asleep a times. And the crocodiles you saw swimming about just weren't as fun as the jumping crocs. Later in the day we bathed at a beautiful waterfall but there was quite a swim to get out to the fall. Lloyd was the first one to get to it, then me, then Mona and then Rob, the rest didn't swim all the way to the fall. The drive that day was 400km. After dinner we sat down to see Wolf Creek, which is scarier when you are almost in the middle of nowhere in Australia on a camp-site late at night.

Thursday the 30th of April till Saturday the 2nd of May.
(Litchfield N.P. to Darwin to Kakadu Lodge)

The next day was spent swimming in waterholes, waterfalls and other things like that, which was absolutely beautiful. And loved relaxing in the water despite not being near the sea. Closer to the evening we drove 150km to Darwin and went to a marketplace with a lot of people. After a short while some of us went down to the beach and waited, there was a lot of small groups on the beach because there was some sort of celebration with fireworks. Then we went to our hostel and got a single drink at the hostel pool-bar. Friday was a free day to explore Darwin. We spent the day wandering the city or hanging out at the pool at the hostel. And doing some laundry. It was nice to have a day with no activities other than what you decided to do in a spur of the moment. We all met up around the pool before going out to diner. And after us girls had waited for the guys to get ready. We went to a restaurant and later at night some of us went out. We ended up going to the Vic. I'm pretty sure this was the night were Jess (I think) decided to ask some of us, which guy one would want to be with, I didn't get to answer because they already had figured it out. And we went home around 2 am only missing one person, who got home at 5 or something only to leave again before coming back 2 hours later which was a short time before we all had to leave the hostel. We still have no idea what he did all night. That day he got the back-seat, which was usually the place for the person with the worst hangover. Then it was the day were we went on The original Jumping Crocodile cruise. With was amazing, to see these huge animals jumping straight up in the air, leaving only the tail in the water. The power this amazing creature has is totally overwhelming. That day was probably the warmest they of the trip with 34,5 degrees Celsius. We drove 330km that day to Kakadu National Park, where we wandered about to see aboriginal stone paintings and yet an other beautiful sunset. After wards some of us went swimming in the pool at night. If you dived under the water you couldn't see anything in one end of the pool because there wasn't any light.

Tuesday the 28th till Wednesday the 29th of April.
(Bush Camp to Katherine Gorge/Nitmeluk N.P. to Litchfield N.P.)

Waking up in the middle of nowhere it was now Mona's birthday. The total drive that day was 643km. We had lunch at Daly Waters Pub. Again we made skittles Vodka again this time we had 4 bottles and should have had 5. So we made them in different colours. While shopping I got the task of distracting Mona while the others got cake and other stuff. The drive from the shop to the camping place was spent drinking a bit of the vodka to make room for skittles. We ended up with a purple, a red, an orange and a yellow vodka. The red one was the best, simply because me and Mona had decided not to get the cheapest vodka but one that tasted slightly better. Me and Nanna cooked dinner that night. That night was an epic night, were everybody got more or less drunk, Sofie changed red or black to black or white and didn't really get the problem. To be honest skittles vodka is an evil drink but really fun. As the guys finally got sick of us not always taking quite as big shots as they did, they got Sabrina to get her shot glass so we couldn't cheat. But we got through the bottles and some beers and other stuff. At some point the camp ranger or something came over because of complaints about us making to much noise. I have no idea how but at some point more and more people were smoking – myself included, not only the 3 regular smokers. Some wild wallabies jumped past the camp at some point. At the end of the night me, Mona, Lloyd and Olly sat in/outside their tent and talked. My recollection of this night and the order this happened in is slightly muddy. But from the pictures taken and what I remember it was just great.
The following day we went on a gorge cruise, with a hangover of course. The gorge cruise was beautiful but was mostly for an older crowd. Or at least there was many older people that day. After the cruise we had some time to relax around the pool before we packed up and drove 340km to Litchfield National Park. At Litchfield we saw huge termite mounds.

(Charters Towers to Mt Isa to Bush camp in Northern Territory)

That Sunday was the day with the longest drive (about 760 km) so we got up early and drove. As we arrived at Mt Isa a large mining town it was just a short while before sundown. So we quickly sat the tents up and then went up to see the sun going down over the Isa. During the day we had prepared at bottle of Skittles vodka. Which meant we had to drink a bit of the vodka during the day, some of it for breakfast even, to make room for the skittles. The colour became a muddy pink, because of the mix of colours, we put everything except for the green ones in. So after dinner we played some drinking game (possibly red or black) with the skittles vodka. Just so you know it is an evil drink, because it is just straight vodka, but the colour makes you think it is something that tastes good or okay – but it doesn't.
The next day we drove about 600km and at one point crossed into Northern Territory. Now we started to realise how annoying flies can be. But luckily it could have been worse. After driving we found a place near the road where we could set up our Bush camp. We started a fire and watched the sunset, as the sun went down the flies disappeared. Because of the cows wandering about and at times moving closer to our camp, we started discussing when the cows where going to ram the camp. The guys cooked a nice stew that evening. And Rob made us some dessert made of banana, chocolate and marshmallows. It was beautiful to sit around the fire and simply watch the fire or when it started to die down the most gorgeous night sky I've seen in a while.

Friday the 24th till Saturday the 25th of April.
(Cairns and Great Barrier Reef to Charters Towers)

The next day we met Rob and Geoff, the two new guys. The day was spent on Great Barrier Reef. As we got on the boat, we received a form you had to fill before being allowed to dive. One of the questions about health asked: have you had anything alcoholic to drink in the last 8 hours. We all agreed that since there was an hour or two till we would be diving it would be more than 8 hours since we drank. So slightly hangover we lounged on the boat, before all the newbies at diving gathered to get at quick course in diving, a test dive was included in the prize, you only went about a meter down or something. Then you could dive further down with at guide for about 75 AUD. That dive went to about 6 meters under water. It was amazing to swim among the reefs and see everything closer than if you simply snorkelled (which we did first while waiting for it to be our turn). It was a weird but fun feeling to “breathe” under water. After the dive we went back and relaxed on the boat. There was a second dive, which I didn't do, one of the reasons being my jaw hurts when being in the position you have to for the breathing mouth piece (or whatever it is called). So we just enjoyed the day on the boat. At night we went out to eat and for Hanny, Laura, Helen, Sven and Nicole it was the last day. So at dinner Luke did his what was the best and the worst thing of the trip with them. After dinner we went back to the hostel and sat in the bar and talked a bit with Rob and Geoff to get to know them a bit.
The next day you could either take a cable-car to a small town or just relax in Cairns. Me and Nanna just wandered Cairns. Then we drove about 480 km to Charters Towers and Geoff and Rob got to set up their tent for the first time in the dark. So Luke cooked that night and we just hung out until people one by one went to bed.

(Airlie Beach to Mission Beach to Cairns)

The next day we left Airlie Beach and had a 540km drive. We got to the campsite and those who wanted to skydive drove of to do that, while we sat up camp. Then we went to the beach for a quick swim before trying to find out where the skydivers where going to land. We found a mark but it wasn't the right one. They landed far away from where we were. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, before eating. The night was spent talking and drinking. Sofie, with the help of the other danish girls, tried to teach the others the drinking game Pyramid. It went alright except the amount one had to drink seemed to change randomly. The night also introduced the nickname moaning Mona and a weird conversation about a tree and sex. Also the subject of skinny-dipping was discussed for a time.
Then it was the day for White Water rafting – Xtreme. Which was so much fun. The guides were incredibly funny and seemed to love guiding us down the river and at times tipping the raft so we all ended in the water. That night we ate at a restaurant near the campsite and I had some great kangaroo.
The night ended and the next day it was time to head for Cairns which was just 160km away. We checked in to the hostel and then the ones who were going to bungy or swing went of to AJ Hacketts. I did the Minjin – the jungle swing, together with Sofie. The worst part for me was the ride up and waiting for us to be able to pull the string so the swing would start. Sofie pulled the string. It was really fun, the guy who strapped us in kept standing right where we were swinging and just ducking out right before we would hit him. Then we just watched as Lloyd, Mona, Nanna, Olly, Jess and Luke did a bungy jump. Laura, Jess and Olly also did a Minjin swing. Luke's jump was really funny 'cause he did one were he ran of the top of the jumptower, and he kept running in the air. I would have liked to do it, but probably never would have gotten all the way up the stairs. But I guess I'll have to do it some other time in my life. That night we went out to eat and party in Cairns. It was our last night before the two new guys would join us for the rest of the trip. The place we were at had 2-4-1 offers at different hours through the night. Somehow on the way back to the hostel the subject of skinny dipping was again discussed. And for some reason I agreed if Sofie would do it and she would do it if Lloyd and Olly agreed. Nanna, Mona and Sven somehow stayed out of the deal. So we skinny dipped in the hostel pool. And the pool rules say: you can't be there when the gate is closed (we jumped the fence), you aren't allowed to be drunk in the pool area, and no nudity. For some reason Sofie and me found it fun to steal the guys' clothes. After giving them back their things we went to sleep.

(Redcliffe to Tannum Sands to Airlie Beach)

The next day we had a somewhat long drive of 615km. We went to the Australian Zoo, which is Steve Irwin’s Zoo. I held a koala and of course we had to see the crocodile show. But no one had warned us that the time shown was when Bindi and the Croc men (or what they were called) had a show. So we endured 30 minutes of her singing and dancing before the crocodiles came.
The next day we had yet another 600km drive from Tannum Sands to Airlie Beach. Sometime along the drive we crossed to Tropic of Capricorn, so we entered to Tropic zone. We got to Airlie Beach, where we went out to eat and then partied. We kind of hopped from place to place, some places some of the guys weren’t allowed in because the doorman judged them as to drunk. We ended the night at Mama Africa, as we after a couple of tries finally got everyone in. Nanna, Mona, Lloyd, Olly and me stayed at Mama Africa a bit longer than some of the others. Going home we took a cap, but ended up at the wrong campsite. The cap was gone before we got to tell him it was wrong. So we went out and sat on the road to try and stop a car and so we could get home. Olly and Nanna at some point walked one way, while we stayed and got a woman to pull over who were so nice as to drive us to the right campsite, which was the one just 5 minutes down the road. So we sat by the entrance and I called Nanna, with some trouble because of bad coverage. We told them which way to go and they walked back. Finally we were all back at the campsite and could go to sleep.
The next day we went on a Whitsunday Cruise. Nicole, Lloyd and Sven were on a sail boat and the rest of us had taken a catamaran cruise. It was a beautiful day, with sunbathing, snorkelling, swimming and relaxing. I got sunburned on my back. We ate out again but didn’t stay out that long.

(Tingalpa to Moreton Island to Redcliffe)

We got up and packed our day pack, as we couldn’t bring everything to Moreton Island. Then we drove to the harbour and left Jack, as only 4WD vehicles can drive on Moreton Island. Moreton Island is a sand island. During the day we went to the beach, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Right next to the beach there was a natural billabong which we bathed in also, before going back to the beach. We went back to the hut we where staying in and relaxed, we walked down to the beach and saw the sunset and it was beautiful. We ate good food and played cards. At some point we started playing drinking games. Ring of fire and Black or red where among the games. And let’s just say mixing beer, rum and coke and Red Bears is not a tasty thing. But it was an entertaining night. The next day we had to be ready at 8 o’clock. But we were missing Helen. After looking for her, Luke found her in another hut. We drove off to hike mount Tempest, which is the biggest costal sand dune in the world. The view was beautiful at the top. Then we went to the Desert and sandboarded, it was really great but you got sand everywhere. So we went to the beach to rinse of the sand and eat lunch. We visited a pool before it was time to wait for the ferry and leave the island. Then we drove to Redcliffe to stay for the night.

(Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay to Tingalpa)

Tuesday the 14th we woke up in our hostel. Everyone got ready and had breakfast, before getting our raincoats (or whatever alternative one had) for the walk we were going to do that rainy day. On the walk our very first group picture was taken, which would be the first of many. Then we drove on. It didn’t rain more that day and after driving about 250 km we got to our first campground. We got our tents and sat up camp for lunch, with a quick visit to the beach. Then we went to what is apparently the most easterly point of the Australian Mainland, Cape Byron. After that we went into Byron Bay and wandered a bit. Nanna and I came to the conclusion that hot guys apparently were drawn to Byron Bay ‘course we saw a lot while shopping.
We went back to the campground to get ready for dinner and maybe a couple of drinks in Byron Bay. Not everyone went out after we left the pub where we ate, but some of us did. We had a few drinks, talked and played some pool before getting a taxi back to the campground. It was the first of many nights out, but we didn’t stay out that late. The next day we got up and got ready for at great day. All except Laura, Lloyd, Helen and Hanny went surfing. Surfing was absolutely amazing. But it was also really exhausting. After that the ones who wanted to Hang-glide had to hurry and change and/or eat. Sofie, Mona, Jess, Sabrina and I were some of the people not going so we found something to eat to and relaxed in Byron Bay for a while before meeting at Woollies for a shop, we had divided into food groups so every group had to find stuff for the day they were going to cook. The hang-gliders came back when we were pretty much done shopping. And then we drove about 220 km to Tingalpa in Queensland, with a stop in Surfers Paradise, which is kind of too much, Byron Bay was just perfect compared to it.

Thursday the 9th till Monday the 13th of April.
(DK to Sydney to Coffs Harbour)

On the 9th of April 2009 I spent all day packing. Time moved to slow, I really just wanted to be in Sydney now, but Nanna and I left Copenhagen around 5. 40 pm. So at 3 pm we said goodbye to our parents at the airport. We now had over 24 hours till we would be in Sydney. First we flew to Frankfurt and had a few hours there before getting on the flight to Sydney with a short stop in Singapore. It was a long flight but once you were on the plane you just relaxed, slept and watched movies or whatever you felt like.
Finally Saturday the 11th of April we landed in Sydney at 5 am. Tired but excited we went through immigration and customs, without any trouble. Outside the sun was starting to rise so we saw it rise while taking a cap to Brighton Le Sands, where Rada and Delia were waiting to welcome us to Australia. Though jetlagged we just ate something, showered and relaxed a bit before going out to explore Sydney. While waiting for a bus we went to the beach and dipped our feet in and enjoyed it. That day we took a sightseeing bus, so we could see Sydney, at times it was really hard to stay awake for me. Sometime during the day we agreed to a hair salon's offer for a pampering sessions, which we decided to take on our last day when back in Sydney about a month later. Feeling tired we just paid for The Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb which we would do the next day. So we went back to Brighton le Sands relaxed and fell asleep, woke up for dinner, relaxed some more and I quickly checked my mail and talked a bit with Rada before going to bed.
The next day we did the Bridge Climb, which is a nice experience but a bit of a challenge when you are scared of heights. Wandered Sydney a bit before going back to Brighton Le Sands to eat and pack our stuff so we could go to the Travelodge to stay for the night since we would be meeting the group there the following morning. Then on Monday the 13th of April we woke up and got ready to meet the people we were going to spend the next 30 days with, felt excited and a bit anxious. Everybody stood in the foyer of the hostel and looked at each other wondering if they were part of the group. Nanna saw Jess who she had chatted a bit with on Facebook before. Then our tour guide, Luke, came in. We all sat down and Luke explained a lot of stuff before we went out to the van, put our stuff in the trailer and got ready for our first drive at about 600 km. In the van people slowly talked a bit or just studied each other (must admit I did that mostly). We had our first shop for food and got introduced to The Eskies. Then we came to Coffs Harbour and checked into the YHA hostel for the night. I was in a room with Nanna, Jess and Sabrina. Luke cooked that night and we introduced ourselves. The group was made up by Nanna and me from Copenhagen Denmark, Mona and Sofie also from Denmark, but different part of it. Then there was Sven from Germany, Hanny from Holland, and Nicole from Germany. Jess, Sabrina and Olly from England, Helen from the Canary Islands, Lloyd from South Africa and Laura from USA. And of course our guide Luke from Australia. The oldest of the group was Hanny at 50-something and the youngest was Olly at 19 years old.

Hello...
I know I've been neglecting this blog big time, so I've decided to update it a bit more, I'll (hopefully) put up a few posts about my trip to Australia over the next couple of weeks... That trip was definitely the travel of my life.. And hopefully I'll see almost everyone from the group at some point again... I left Denmark the 9th of April and landed back in Denmark the 15th of May.... I'm planning on making a new layout for this to match the theme of my Australia trip.... Also I'm going to move all the old posts to a separate page.... :)
